How to Find a Past Life Regression Therapist You Can Trust

Past life regression is not a regulated profession anywhere. There is no licence to check and no board to complain to. What exists instead are a small number of associations that accredit training schools and list the people who completed them - and a much larger number of practitioners who did a weekend course.

Telling those apart is the whole task. Here is where the listings are, and what to ask.

Spiritual Regression Therapy Association (SRTA)

The SRTA describes itself as an international organisation dedicated to setting the highest professional standards for past life therapy, regression therapy and between lives regression. Founded in 2008, it accredits training school programmes and trainers, and maintains a worldwide directory of more than 120 members across 26 countries. You can search for a therapist and filter for in-person or online work.

The number matters in both directions. A directory of 120 people worldwide is small - you may find no one near you. But it also means membership was not handed out lightly.

The Michael Newton Institute

A not-for-profit organisation bringing together trained facilitators who offer Life Between Lives hypnotherapy as developed by Dr Michael Newton. It runs formal trainings one to two times a year internationally, online and in person, and its site carries a Find LBL Facilitator directory.

This is the narrowest and most specific option here. Life Between Lives is a registered trademark of the Institute, so a facilitator using the term has come through their training. If that particular work is what you are looking for, start here rather than anywhere else.

Holistic marketplaces

Heallist carries more than 3,000 practitioners across 220+ modalities in 55+ countries, and Heal.me lists over 4,000 practitioners across 50 or more modalities, with hypnotherapy named explicitly. Both let you see prices and book in one place, which the associations do not.

The trade-off is verification. Heallist states plainly that practitioners manage their own listings and that it does not vet or endorse individual services. On a marketplace, the training question is entirely yours to ask.

Local hypnotherapists

Regression is often one service inside a broader hypnotherapy practice. A hypnotherapist with a clinical background and years of general practice may be a steadier choice than someone who does regression exclusively - particularly if difficult material surfaces. Ask what training they did specifically for regression, and with whom.

Five questions worth asking

• What was your regression training, how long was it, and who accredited it? A weekend and a three-year programme are both called training.

• How long is a session, and what does it cost? Regression sessions commonly run two to three hours. If someone offers you fifty minutes, ask what they are actually doing.

• What happens if nothing surfaces? Anyone who guarantees a past life recall is promising what no one can promise.

• What do you do if something distressing comes up? This is the question that separates careful practice from theatre. Listen for a real answer about aftercare and boundaries.

• Do you make any claims about healing illness? Regression is not treatment for a diagnosed condition, and a careful practitioner will say so themselves.
